What a great bunch of people the PRCC are! It was some pretty tough stuff that we were running through at our last rehearsal but you all happily gave it your best effort. You know that old saying "it's not the destination but the journey...". That really applies to what we do. For me the music isn't just about standing in front of an audience to show off your stuff (although that is nice), it is about the time we spend getting there. When you think of it, we spend so many more hours in rehearsal than we do in concert. So there is definitely something in the journey here.
When I was studying music in university I probably could have done a bit better (don't we all say that!) if I had spent more time in the practice room. Some of my more dedicated peers spent hours in the practice room, running through scales, etudes and repertoire and their efforts really paid off for them. I had a hard time spending so much time practicing alone. I loved music (still do) but I loved sharing it even more. I might have found it hard to spend a lot of time in a practice studio but I had no trouble at all spending hours everyday in a rehearsal. Getting together with other people to play and sing was never an effort.
So keep working hard, keep having fun, and remember that it is not about all the individual notes (cause there can be a lot of them!) it is about the journey we are sharing to get there.
