Another season of singing is quickly coming to a close. Please join us as we sing about the land and sea. As always, our concerts are free to attend but if you feel so inclined, a contribution to the Peace River Art Hub would be much appreciated.
The Peace River Community Choir rehearses on Sunday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the courtyard of Good Shephard School. Our performance is at St. James Anglican Church. Invite your friends to come listen, watch, and enjoy! The session starts at 6:30 p.m. Remember to set your clocks ahead so you arrive on time! We are almost ready for our concert on Sunday, December 10, 3 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church (9709 - 98 Avenue). Admission is free although donations to the Peace River Food Bank would be much appreciated. Come be a part of The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. The Peace River Community Choir invites you to join us as we sing our way through Christmas music composed over the past four centruries. The Sunday afternoon recital is free -- our gift to you this holiday season -- but we will also be accepting donations of cash and non-perishable items for the Peace River Food Bank. Come relax for an hour and enjoy the beautiful acoustics of St. James Cathedral across from Riverfront Park.
Happy Holidays from all of us in the Peace River Community Choir. The Peace River Community Choir and Good Shepherd School Choir, both under the direction of Nicola Quigley, recently recorded a song for Veteran's Week entitled "Remembrance Day Child." It is our gift to the residents of the Peace River area, especially those who have served or have had family members involved in war or peacekeeping missions. Please share it freely. What can I do to say "Thank You" To a time so long ago? What can I do? How can I know? It seems so far from me. What can I do to say "Thank You"? I'll Remember You. , ASept 26/23: Welcome Back to Singing!

All voices are welcome! You don't need to read music or even be a great singer to be a member of the choir, just enthusiasm and a commitment to attend every rehearsal so we can make progress together. We offer practice tracks and sectional rehearsals to help drill the notes in your memory. There is a fee of $150 to offset the cost of music purchases, venue rental, an honorarium for our director and accompanist, and other minor operating expenses. If finances are an issue, let us know and we can work something out. We don't want you to miss the opportunity to be a part of the choir. Communal singing reduces stress, raises endorphins, taps into the creative side of your brain, and forges relationships with others. Come Sing With Us!
Please message Nicola through our Contact page so we know how many choir folders to prepare for our first rehearsal. We look forward to hearing from you! This is the announcement many of you have been anticipating since our forced shutdown three years ago: Community Choir is starting up again! We will be meeting on Tuesdays from 7 - 9 pm in the courtyard of Good Shepherd School with Nicola Quigley at the helm and Elaine Leer at the keyboard. We still have funds left over from 2020, so there will be no charge to join.
Our first rehearsal is on February 7. We welcome singers of all levels of experience or ability as our goal is to enjoy the music-making process and the time spent together during our weekly rehearsals. Please do us a favour. If you plan to sing with us, send Nicola an email or message us through our Contact page so we know how many choir folders to prepare for our first rehearsal. We look forward to hearing from you! We are hoping to get the choir going again after the Thanksgiving weekend. Right now, our biggest obstacle is that we don't have an accompanist. If you play the piano with reasonable proficiency or know someone who does, please let us know! Choir practices have traditionally been held on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm in the courtyard of Good Shepherd School. As the pandemic drags on, making music together on Tuesday nights seems like a distant memory. If you are missing the Peace River Community Choir, you're not alone. For many of us, choir was more than just a singing group. It was a social night out in which the stresses of the day melted away as our breathing synchronized and our voices blended in harmony. We'd like to start up again in January, but the restrictions of the pandemic will make rehearsals very different from before. Is there enough interest in doing so? We've put together a short survey to see if we have the numbers to make it worthwhile negotiating for a rehearsal venue. If we are able to get Good Shepherd School, it is very likely we would all need to:
