We sang beautifully at Festival today. Let's take our pieces even further by employing the adjudicator's suggestions and performing again to a new audience.
We have been invited to sing at the Festival Grand Concert at the Baptist Church on Saturday, April 8. We have also been invited to sing at the Syrian Friends fundraising concert at the Athabasca Hall on Saturday, April 22. Organizers of both events require our immediate response. Please check your calendars and answer the following questions by Friday, March 31. Fah who foraze! Dah who doraze! Welcome Christmas, come this way! Our Christmas concert is just around the corner. Invite your friends (young and old) to bring a can of Who Hash for the Food Bank on Sunday, December 11th, 3:00 p.m. at the Anglican Church.
The 2016-17 season starts in two weeks. If you love singing, we'd love to have you join us. The first three rehearsals are trial rehearsals, so there's no obligation to join. What do you have to lose? There are so many health benefits to group singing, and you'll make some new friends in the process. Let the music begin!
I'm so proud that our Community Choir has chosen to dedicate our Spring recital to Marg Seaton, a long-time member of our our choir who passed away at the end of April. Admission will be by donation to Compassion House (Edmonton) and/or the Food Bank (Peace River). Nine teachers in town have also formed a tone chime group which will start things off on Friday, 7:30 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church.
![]() Our choir has been invited to sing in the Festival Grand Concert on Saturday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. This is a great honour, but in order to properly represent ourselves to the public, we need to have a sizeable and balanced group of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. Please check your choir email and respond before noon on Friday to let us know if you are able to sing at the concert. There are many benefits to singing in a choir, among them:
Physical (respiratory, improved immune system, neurological development) Sense of community and development of friendships Educational (improved literacy and understanding of music theory) Development of musical memory Increased expertise in vocal technique Overall feeling of joy Here is a link to a lecture delivered earlier this summer in London which goes into further detail. If you prefer to read, rather than listen, a transcript of Professor Graham Welch's lecture is provided. We are looking forward to a wonderful season ahead. Come sing with us! |
